Ben: Week 9 at school

From the school newsletter:
The Dazzling Daisies had a great week in school. We started noticing the change of weather out-side; it started to get colder so we have to wear a sweater, long pants and long sleeve shirts. Morah brought Bella the puppet and we got her dressed in her sweater. Brrr Brrrr it’s so windy out-side. We noticed lots of leaves on the sidewalk. Morah explained that in the fall time the leaves fall off the trees and the animals are starting to get ready to hibernate. Mr squirrel came to visit us in the classroom, he was looking for nuts to collect for the winter. He met his friend Molly also collecting nuts, so they decided to help each other collect. They found so many small nuts and one big nut that they both had to carry together.

One morning we went on a nature walk. Each Daisy got a bag to collect leaves. It was so exciting being able to pick them up! We kept some leaves for the light box. We placed the leaves on top of the light so we could see the leave’s veins and explore them with a magnifying glass. The Daisies had a blast playing with the leaves inside the classroom. Morah put some leaves on top of the parachute as the friends shook it, we watched the leaves fly in the air. Morah brought a fan in the class and we pretended it was the wind blowing the leaves off the trees. Afterwards the leaves were all over the classroom, so we all helped clean it up together. Such good team work !!!

FALL
Leaves, leaves, leaves were everywhere in the Dazzling Daisies classroom. We created trees out of clay and popsicle sticks. We used tape for the trees and red and green Play Dough for the leaves and apples. To help us with our colors and sorting skills, we played a game sorting the leaves and matching it to the picture on the tray. The Daisies had to use a magnet to pick up the leaves. It was so much fun sticking the leaves on and off the trees against the wall. We created our fall trees with brown masking tape for the trunk and branches, then we used a Q-tip to paint the leaves. On a piece of paper we stuck leaves down and painted over it, afterwards when we picked up the leaves we saw the outline of the leaves.
